A tale as old as time, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast animated movie is a classic that has every 90s kid going into a state of nostalgia upon hearing the words ‘Be Our Guest’.
The beautiful Belle and misunderstood Beast were star crossed lovers who had to get over many obstacles to be together, including their own egos. This movie is not your typical Disney fairy tale where a prince falls in love with a girl (instantly) and tirelessly roams through the city to find who fits the glass slipper. Belle is not your regular princess-material girl. She enjoys reading and has educated herself on various topics and literature. She is strong headed, stubborn and prefers to make her own decisions. However, she discovers a new side to her when she meets the Beast and as they begin to learn more about each other, their love grows.
After the success of the live action movie for The Jungle Book, Disney has come up with a list of old animated movies that they plan on converting to live action movies. One of their first and most awaited movies for 2017 is a live action version of Beauty and the Beast. Ever since the launch of the teaser trailer on 23rd May 2016, Disney fans have grown more and more anxious for the release of the movie.
A remake gives creative people the chance to change certain parts of a previous artwork to make it better. This movie too will undergo a few changes to the storyline. With Emma Watson cast as Belle, she brought forward a few feminist twists that gives more personality to Belle’s character. She tried to make it clear that Belle isn’t just the village beauty but she’s also a woman with brains.
From refusing to wear a corset to becoming an inventor, there are quite a few things that live action Belle does differently when compared to animated Belle. However, there is no denying that Emma Watson looks absolutely gorgeous as Belle. Pictures from the set have started to circulate and people can’t stop wondering how the movie will turn out.
Let’s begin to prepare for 17th March 2017!
