When you google the size of Singapore, it states that our homeland is only 719.1 km². As locals, we feel that due to the size of our country, there are not many areas to chill out and have fun. Though, I’m sure that most of us will agree that ‘town’ – the stretch of road spanning from Orchard to Dhoby Ghaut, is THE go-to place for eating and shopping. That being said, we are probably bored from always going to town to eat and shop and sometimes we find ourselves wondering if there are other things we could do before or after a meal in town.

Usually forgotten from all the glitz and glamour of the shopping hub, here are 8 entertaining activities you never thought you could find in town.

1. Seek Solace Through Art

ION Orchard Art Gallery

I’m sure it’s quite likely that you haven’t heard of the ION Art Initiative, as it’s probably one that goes unnoticed with all the big name clothing shops and restaurants. If you’re seeking some quiet time from all the hustle and bustle or if you’re just waiting for a friend who is late, heading down to the gallery located on level 4 of ION Orchard would probably be a good idea.

2. Have A Second Look At Singapore’s Skyline

ION Orchard Observatory

I honestly never knew that the most iconic shopping mall in town could reach the 56th floor, it doesn’t even look that tall compared to Sky on 57th @ MBS. For locals, if you’re bored of the view from Marina Bay Sands, you could actually have another view of Singapore’s night cityscape from ION Orchard’s observatory on the 55-56th floor.
